UN Security Council

The site of the United Nation's security council, this room is pretty cool to look at.

Here's a quick rundown of what seats belong to who. The 15 seats around the horseshoe are for the delegates from the nations on the security council. The blue chairs behind them are for their advisors. The table in the middle is lower than the rest and is for people transcribing the events of the council. The red chairs on the sides are for all other members of the UN to sit in and listen to the council's decisions.

The UN tour was probably one of my favourite parts of the New York trip. It was informative, interesting, and simply cool to check out.

Brooklyn Bridge

With the sun just setting, the Brooklyn Bridge is a pretty awesome sight from up close. The cables almost make you feel like you're somehow ensnared in its net, and you don't want to know what size that spider is ...

Smoky Tower

In Boston one night, clouds descended to cover the tops of all the tall buildings. That evening I had brought my tripod because I wanted some night shots of the city, and I was rewarded with this tower picture.

This tower is very close to Quincy Market in Boston. I'm not really sure what the building is for, we just passed it several times. The clock has blue and orange lights on it, so that is what's glowing at the top there.

Flying Under the Clouds

On the Statue of Liberty Island I got bored of taking pictures of the scenery and started to take pictures of the many seagulls flying around the tourists looking for food. I got several really cool shots and had trouble picking one to upload today, but this one won out because I caught the clouds in the background!

Rays of Light

On the plane from New York to Toronto on the way home, I was treated to several wonderful combinations of the sun, clouds and their interaction. This is one of the first images.

Good Morning Canada

On the red-eye flight from Edmonton to Toronto, I was treated to a pretty sweet sight from my window seat. I'm glad I didn't try and sleep through the *whole* trip!

Finale

Well, it wasn't precisely the finale fireworks, but it was close. This was towards the end of the firework presentation. Thanks to the city of edmonton for a great display of fireworks this year!

Explosion

A pretty long exposure, this picture is probably one of my favourites from the photos I took. I have no idea how I got this one to turn out so well!

Neon Nucleus

I probably had this one exposed just a tad too long, but I kind of like the effect. What I do like is the neon colours that came out.

Blue Green and Yellow

Unfortunately, there's smoke in the background. I could probably photoshop it out, but I haven't really gotten into that sort of thing. It almost feels like cheating to me ;-)

Fire in the Sky

One of the first clear shots of the fireworks I got on Canada Day this year. I'm pretty new at the fireworks game, but the photos I got turned out surprisingly well!

St Michael's Abbey

This abbey is built on top of a mountain next to the Susa valley in Italy. This is the stairway leading up to the main entrance with a perfectly trimmed hedge next to a wonderful statue.

From behind a friend's cabin, robson once again showed itself on a beautiful cloudless day.

Fitzwilliam Trail Photo

On the way down from the Mount Fitzwilliam Trail, this stunning sight showed itself and I was quick to grab a photo.

Mount Robson and Berg Lake

Mount Robson is often covered in clouds, so it is pretty rare to get a chance to get a photo like this. This is one of my favourite photos I've taken over the years.
